PODIA 2.0: lessons on SCOs or how to become a master in simplifying work
If you are busy with your daily work, and you do not have time to dig into all the technical details and regulations, PODIA e-learning platform is for you. This time we are bringing a new course on Simplified Cost Options (SCO). Have you heard about them? It is a key novelty in the future programmes both for programme staff, as well as all parties involved in project implementation and control.
Flat rates, lump sums, standard scales of unit costs… sounds more complex than it is, we promise! Simplified cost options (SCO) are a straightforward method to determine the eligible costs of a project, estimating the costs in advance by using the rules of thumb. What is simple about it? Projects do not need to worry about collecting and submitting supporting documents for every single euro spent and, similarly, programmes do not need to verify them all. In a nutshell, it simplifies the administrative burden on both sides!
Interesting, right?
Starting with the question “What are SCOs?” this online course consists of four chapters explaining the ins and outs of simplified cost options in the framework of Interreg NEXT programme.
The course covers aspects relevant both for the project implementers, as well as programme staff new to the topic.
How to approach SCO, which options are the most reasonable, how other programmes are using SCOs, and guidance on how to choose and combine the best methods in the next programming period.
With a friendly, familiar language and combining video-clips with self-explanatory day-to-day examples, practical exercises and quizzes, the first two chapters of the course will help you get a quick overview on the topic, while the last two contain more in-depth knowledge, for those who are already familiar with the topic. For the professionals with more advanced knowledge in SCOs – those who need to roll up their sleeves and start setting-up a system for SCOs in their NEXT programme – a written document discussing experiences by peers in ENI CBC programmes will be a life-saver.
In addition, do not forget that in Interreg NEXT, there will be more choices on the SCO menu – 6 pre-defined methods and the possibility to develop your own – and, in some cases, the use of SCOs will be mandatory. What a better time to learn and test your knowledge on SCOs?
