ENI CBC strengthening support to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova
On 6 April the European Commission will meet the representatives of the Programme bodies of the ENI CBC programmes cooperating with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to discuss the emergency support to be provided to the refugee population created by the conflict.
Since the beginning of the Russia’s invasion the European Commission has adopted several response measures, such as the suspension of the financial agreements with Russia and Belarus for 2014-2020 programmes and termination of the financial transactions to both countries. At the same time, the Commission is exploring legal and operational possibilities to strengthen the existing cross-border cooperation programmes between EU countries and Ukraine.
The current meeting will discuss the joint response to the immediate needs of the five ENI CBC programmes: Romania – Ukraine, Romania – the Republic of Moldova, Poland – Belarus – Ukraine, Black Sea Basin, Hungary – Slovakia – Romania – Ukraine and the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme. The occasion will be also used to discuss the 2021-2027 programming process and facilitate a fast submission and adoption of the Interreg NEXT and Interreg Danube programmes 2021-2027.
