Closed, launched or in the making?

Let’s start having a look at the calls that have been closed! The first week of May saw the closing of the first call of Estonia-Russia. 73 project summary forms were received, out of which more than half deal with business and SME development. The number of proposals related to environmental issues and local and regional governance field is significant as well. Next was Karelia, which closed its calls for 2017 on 11 May. All priorities combined, the total number of proposals submitted was 115. The most popular priority was the one related to Culture. The total amount of requested funding was 45,9 Mio€, four times the available envelope. By the time you will read this article, the clock will stop ticking for the first call of Black Sea Basin, which closes on 31 May.

A new call has been launched this month! Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine opened its second call on 17 May. Whereas the first one focused on infrastructure projects, this one is open for regular projects. It has an indicative allocation of 22 Mio€, covers all six priorities of the Programme and is open until 15 September.

Engines are heating up in other programmes! Latvia-Russia will open its first call in early June. In this context, the Programme is organising four  seminars for potential applicants to provide information on the contents and the application procedures. In three cases, these events will also provide an opportunity for networking, exchange of project ideas and partner search. The first call of Mediterranean Sea Basin will likely be published by the end of June, in order to secure the participation of all Partner Countries involved in the Programme. Irrespective of the specific launching date, information events will take place in most Member States as from the first week of June, with those in Partner Countries following during the month of July. Last but not least, Poland-Russia will organise a partner search forum in Olsztyn on 13 June. Even if also in this case there is yet no official date for launching the first call, this is an opportunity not to be missed by those interested in applying.

First approved projects to be announced soon

It will not take long before we know the outcome of some of the calls which have been already closed! In fact, the first decisions are expected to be taken already during the Monitoring Committee meeting of Kolarctic that will be held on 8-9 June in Oslo. Karelia and Southeast Finland-Russia should be the next ones, later in the month. So, if everything goes according to schedule, in our next bulletin we will be most delighted to provide the first figures on approved ENI CBC projects!

Funds are limited, and not all proposals from the pile will make it to the implementation stage. The best ones will soon become concrete realities. For those who are not among them not everything is lost, and chances for applying a second time will be provided in most programmes.
